Wine has always been a substantial part in Greek life, not only because it is included in daily nutrition but it is also narrowly connected with Greek culture and religion. 


In ancient Greece fertile land and prosperous climate conditions allowed the wide cultivation of grape. Furthermore,
the worship of ancient Greek Dionysus, a very erotic, vivid and genius deity, is gr very well-known.
During the Byzantine times,
wine unites Biblical with Greek tradition. The God of the Greeks is called “the Real Grapevine”.
Besides that the grapevine and the wine are some of the most holly symbols of Christianity.
During the 1960’s starts the story of contemporary Greek viniculture and the development of bottled wine industry.
With the passing of the years,
the unique wine making techniques that have been developed in Greece and they have been transferring from one generation to the other,
along with the necessary know-how. The result of all those practices is the production of popular wines.
Nowadays, the majority of those unique Greek wine making practices are applied under the supervision of experienced scientists,
agronomists and wine specialists combined with the use of state of the art machinery, in modern wineries.
